The reasoning behind having three books to unveil all that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have to offer is likely due to the games' expanded narratives. There wasn't an English guide book for Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or Legends: Arceus either. It's not known if there will be English releases of these books, but Merrick raised the point that Pokemon Sword and Shield saw some major leaks following the release of their English guide. The third and final book releases February 2, 2023, and will be a full Pokedex guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region. The second guide drops on December 16 and will be a story guide. This guide will give players a general overview of the paths they can explore but won't be going into any major depth. According to Merrick, these guides will only launch in Japan, at least initially, and the first book for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be released when the games launch on November 18. Pokemon insider Joe Merrick has unveiled on Twitter that the latest games will have not one, not two, but three guide books to help players explore the Paldea region.
